Alaina ‘ lainy’ cherup is a fine artist & designer living in the Westgate neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio.

Although my work spans a variety of mediums, my fondest subject matter is the wild and unpredictable characteristics of flora and fauna.

Growing up in rural northwest Ohio provided me with endless opportunities for the exploration of the the natural world, creating a lifelong foundation of endless curiosity that is evoked through the flow and personality of my work.

Color also profoundly effects my work; its impact only deepening through the gift of motherhood —my children have taught me not to be afraid of the intensity and variation of colors, and that using as many of them at once can actually be a beautiful practice in the art of letting go.

I have always been a deep feeler, thinker, lover and and idealist. These things drive me in my pursuit of meaning + human connection in both life + art.
